The one month contest for the MSI GX600 gaming notebook has come to a close and we have a winner to reveal.

Vivek Gowri of Washington is the official winner of the MSI notebook. He submitted the following screenshot from Need For Speed Pro Street in order to increase his chances of winning:

There won't be any problems playing that game on the MSI GX600 with its NVidia 8600m graphics card, congratulations Vivek, and happy gaming!

About the MSI GX600 Gaming Notebook

The GX600 is the latest and greatest gaming notebook from MSI that features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Nvidia 8600M GT graphics card, amazing 15.4" WSXGA Crystal Vision Disply and a unique "TurboBook" feature that allows you to overclock the Intel processor with the push of a button. That's right, hit the button on the upper right side of the notebook labeled "Turbo" and you get an automatic speed boost. The design of the GX600 is sleek yet intimidating, with dragon like flames on the lid and the palmrest ara. Maybe the best thing abou the MSI GX600 is that it's light enough to carry around without breaking your back. Most gaming notebooks are so heavy they hurt to carry, the 15.4" MSI GX600 is perfectly suited for being moved about, yet still powerful. If you'd like more details on the MSI GX600 you have a chance to win in this contest, please visit the MSI website.

Ah, NFS 2...that was back in the golden age of PC gaming. :D This makes me want to go install NFS 3 again.

Its the NFS Pro Street demo, at native res on my iMac (wxga+), with the settings all the way up...Its NFS11, not 2.... o_O not sure how that came about...

Besides, look at the car, its a brand new R35 GTR...2008 model, how would NFS 2 (1997?) have a car that freaking new?

NFS4, man those were the days...Absolutely love that game. Still occasionally boot my Win98 machine to play it. :p

I've been wanting to play NFS:HS but I could never get it working in XP. Oh well, I remember playing it on my Gateway e450. With a Pentium III 450Mhz, 128MB RAM, and 16MB graphics. It played it surprisingly well, lol.

Now I must get Pro Street, it looks rather fun.

Again, Congrats.

Wow, thats the same one I have! Except I think I have a 500MHz P3 :p Near as makes no difference though.

Pro Street didn't impress me much. Maybe its because I didn't hook up my Logitech racing wheel, but the physics weren't all that arcade-y, and yet nowhere near to a sim...And it wasn't as fun as Most Wanted. For that alone, I cannot forgive it.

High Stakes works in XP (even if it doesn't theres always that patch on NFS Cars to get it to work ;)) but somehow it just seems funner on the older machines with 2000 and 98....

Yeah, I've been holding back on Pro Street because of the reviews and stuff. The last Need For Speed game I really enjoyed was Most Wanted. Carbon was alright, but it just didn't seem as ground breaking or significant as Most Wanted. At least Most Wanted and Carbon are free-roam. I'm pretty sure, if my memory serves me well, that Pro Street isn't based on free-roam anymore, you play on closed courses.

Now if only they'd officially support widescreen resolutions, I hate playing at 1024x768.. *sigh*

Pro Street does widescreen. I don't think it has free roam, but I'd not know, I only played the Demo :p
Carbon sucked. It was Underground all over again, I mean, it would have been the same as if they had called it Underground 3.

Most Wanted was awesome, probably the most enjoyable game in the series after High Stakes, and the first truly good game since Porsche Unleashed. Hot Pursuit 2 wasn't tooo bad, but it wasn't great, though the graphics were a huge step up. Underground 1 was tolerable, Underground 2 was...not. It is the worst game in the series thus far by a long ways.
