The MSI GX60 is a 15.6-inch gaming notebook loaded with an AMD processor and Radeon HD 7970M graphics. Is this the best bargain for a gaming rig at a retail price of $1,200?

Good review. Is there any chance you could test the witcher 2 on this laptop? You said in your review the cpu is more than capable of playing games, which is probably true. For example you mentioned skyrim, but that is a game which I can even play on my 2 ghz core 2 duo processor. However, some games are much more cpu demanding, and the witcher 2 has noticable different fps, depending on which cpu you use (source: techspot The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings GPU & CPU Performance > CPU Scaling and Performance - TechSpot)

You can view them all on my channel here. Enjoy
GX60 gameplay videos
Note: remember that these videos were taken before the Catalyst 13.1 WHQL drivers, with FRAPS running in the background (lowers realtime FPS), with no forced 2,7 Ghz turbo on the A-10 CPU, so currently the performance on GX60 is even better.
I own this laptop since the end of october last year and I love it, only the most CPU demanding games might give it some trouble, but 80% of the games on the market rely mostly on the GPU power.
Since this notebook has incredibly powerful GPU - the comfort in gaming is there. -

As LisuPoland's video illustrates, the GX60 can handle Witcher 2 beautifully and it's very playable ... even better if you're not running it at MAXIMUM detail settings. The most painful part of this review is boxing up the GX60 to go back to the manufacturer since we had it on loan.

The review only went over Modern Warfare 3, a game with an engine that can still run with headroom on a Core 2 Duo. Try running Battlefield 3 or any game that needs decent CPU power with this GX60. The price is definitely right, but it seems many people are praising this model like it is a steal, when really it is so cheap because the CPU is such a huge bottleneck. This model will struggle running upcoming engines at comfortable frame rates.

Some games will make it struggle, but highly anticipated games like Dead Space 3, Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines ect. will surely run with no problems.
Some people even played Guild Wars 2 on it and given the CPU it has, they were mostly positively suprised with framerates. -
