Core i7? Desktop?
-
Desktop? It doesn't say the core i7 in this is a desktop one O_O

Lid shot:
Deja vu anyone?
I own a deja vu machine....
This is insanely cheap of MSI....even though I do admit that it does improve on the G50/51/70/71/72/60 look. -
-
Yeah I thought "G50!?" when I saw the GT660 lol So MSI finally went the "bright lights" way it seems >.>
I preferred their older look.
-
O I take that back. The reason why I thought it's desktop is because of the 3 DDR3 RAM slot, similar to Clevo's D900F.

MSI is taking forever with the GT660. It was first shown at CeBit and it just finally got an official product page a few days ago.
They previewed it again (in Blue and Champagne Gold colors) last week at Computex along side a new 17.3" version the GT760...which was shown with the first appearance of the GTX460M. Rumor is that the GT660 will get a 400 card later on and that the GT760 might get dual GPUs.
MSI will also offer 3D for the GT660 but it's not using Nvidia's....it'll use an inexpensive passive 3D. -

Even MSI is getting into the flashy notebooks now. I hope Sager isn't next

Every time I see this laptop I like it more and more.
Most interesting is the "Turbo" feature that OC's the GPU and CPU, I hope it's at least a 10% to 15% increase over stock and not something to laugh at.
I also like the extra cooling button.
3D I can do without and the 285M GTX is slightly disappointing not that it's a bad GPU(it's actually a very good) I just wish it came with the Fermi 460M GTX like GT 760.
The 285M seems a little out of place in an otherwise very sleek looking and loaded laptop.
Dual HDD's, USB 3.0 and i7 core CPU's, what else can you ask for.
In a perfect world it should have come with a ATI 5870, now that would be something. -
I'm waiting on this one! looks really nice!
-
Its a lane that Sager/Clevo will have to take someday, but their stubbornness will continue for now but end eventually.
-
I still don't get it. Why the GTX285M? It has zero advantages over 5850, no DX11, higher power consumption, lower performance. Notebookcheck did a review of the GX640 with many comparisons of the 5850 to the GTX285, and each time the 5850 fared better, despite the GTX285 having been paired with a better CPU. It probably even costs more than 5850 if past nvidia pricing is to be believed...

I wish they'd make a GT660 that's pretty much the GX640 with an updated chassis. -
There is speculation that the GT660 will come with a FERMI GTX 460M, but now that I say that it's sort of ridiculous since the GT660 is not even released yet.
Silly huh!
Waiting for a refresh before it's even out....lol -
still this doesn't have anything on the D900f or the recent sager/clevo gaming models.
-
Turbo feature, USB 3.0...lol
seriously I'd say it's comparable to the lesser models defore they upgraded them to 5870's.
And the D900f runs with a desktop CPU so it's a little silly to compare + it weighs a lot more. -
am I the only one that thinks this laptop is ugly?
-
-
What's up with MSI's designs? Awfully tawdry if you ask me.
-
Some people like chocolat others vanilla.
-
And I too would prefer ati if they did. -
ATI does 3D through 3rd party apps like iZ3D.
-
Hello guys, Guess what the Msi GT60 is released here!
-
Nice design. I love how MSI places the power connector on the rear of the unit, and supplies a right angle adapter. This design is very versatile and greatly decreases the chances of broken/frayed power cords.
-
yeah a few places have it too, seems like just the blueray model tho,, the dvd-rw model isnt released yet,,,, gtx 285 is such a let down, i was hopeing for at least 5870 or Gtx 460
-
You can get a Mobility HD5870 in the G X660. Same chassis but the base config starts with an i5 and it uses the HM55 chipset, so no RAID. Also uses a 15.6" screen instead of 16".
