While massive 17-inch gaming notebooks are popular among many hardcore gamers, thinner and lighter 15-inch gaming laptops are selling well to players who want to enjoy the latest games without the bulk of a desktop.

The MSI GE62 Apache is one of the best-selling 15-inch gaming notebooks thanks to its variety of hardware configurations, affordable price, and stylish design. You can find thinner and lighter laptops if you don’t care about Grand Theft Auto V or Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but if you like playing games then you’ll appreciate things like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M discrete graphics and a built-in customizable SteelSeries gaming keyboard.

We took a closer look at the updated MSI GE62 2QE Apache to find out what it offers serious gamers.

    Nice review Jerry.
The GTX 965M is a competent card although the GTX 970M is 20-25% faster and you can get a Clevo P650SE with one for about $200 more than this MSI. Still, the MSI is a pretty good value.

Yes indeed, Charles. I couldn't give the GE62 Apache an Editors' Choice Award because of the low battery life and temperature issues combined with the fact that there are other gaming notebooks (like the Clevo P650SE or the Alienware 15) that have better configurations if you're willing to spend just a little more cash.

However, the MSI GE62 has a MUCH nicer display than what is on the Clevo P650SE ( Digital Storm Triton) that we reviewed.

Great review, minus its shortcomings I ordered the Pro-055 model. Thank you for insight!
