I... I honestly cannot see this working out well.
You don't play on a 3K monitor with a single GTX 660Ti do you? Because that's what the 780M is equal to at stock. Sure it's a GTX 680 that's underclocked. Sure it's got some serious potential waiting to be unlocked. But even a GTX 680 will struggle to push that resolution.
This would be much better suited to a dual 770M or dual 780M setup. Seems kinda wasted if you asked me. :/ -

Yes, I don't see many people gaming in 3K resolution on this notebook, but I do see an increasing need for notebooks with resolutions that are greater than FHD ... specifically for those who edit 2K - 4K video footage.
On that same note, as more greater-than-FHD content starts popping up we're going to demand screens that can deliver that superior resolution.
I just think it's easier for MSI to market notebooks with 3K screens to gamers and the mobile workstation crowd first. These are the folks who will consume content at greater-than-FHD resolution first. -
Also, games will scale pretty well at lower resolutions on 3k display, and you take advantage of Win 8.1's greater acceptance of resolution independence the rest of the time.
