New and powerful graphics cards have allowed gaming laptops to compete toe-to-toe with their traditional desktop counterparts, but one area where the mobile space has always lagged behind is peripherals, namely the keyboard. Don’t get me wrong, the keyboards found on gaming laptops work well enough, but they pale in comparison to the high-end mechanical keyboards used by many gaming desktop enthusiast; or at least they used to. On Thursday MSI announced the GT80 Titan, the world’s first gaming laptop to offer a mechanical keyboard.

It should have some rather stiff competition from the Alienware 18 but I'm sure it will have some takers.

(With that desktop-style keyboard, it reminds me of the 1980's era "luggables").

I believe this is going to be the dark horse that would take on 18 inch competitors

The next question, screen and hardware compatibility.

I miss the old school style, just like the old D900 series from Clevo, the 20lb'ers easily could fit one in there. This might actually be interesting.

Its about time That the Tandy models get some life back into them :D

I like this idea for a desktop replacement and it should be relatively easy to upgrade or work on. I am actually liking the idea of the MX Browns but I still hope that there are RGB leds under them like the other MSI notebook Steelseries keyboards have. This would be better than the Cherry RGB keys

The keyboard was always the reason why I preferred PC instead of gamer laptops, but this may change now...
