title of this thread says it all. they might as well find a way to manufacture laptops powered by hydrogen fuel cells because its a lot cleaner and safer than burning butane, and there is a large supply of hydrogen. MIT is a good engineering school and all, but i think theyre very good at coming with innovative crap. the $100 laptop is one example. i mean seriously. its nice to be able to run a laptop for 15-30 hours, but please take a look at the practical usability of a jet engine powered laptop. butane is fuel that is gone once its used up, so say good bye for electrical outlet recharge. and where are you going to buy that much butane? butane isnt cheap either. plus, its hazardouse. if you inhale butane gas for an extended period, youre going to ****ing die. and the thing is literally a bomb. there is no way airliners are going to allow business with jet engine powered laptops on board.

I tend to agree it's a little far fetched, but then again so was the thought of man ever flying 200 years ago. We've actually been discussing this article in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=80728 so let's keep up the discussion there.
