The ThinkPad T510 is the 15.6" notebook from Lenovo that competes head-to-head with the HP EliteBook 8540p and the Dell Latitude E6510. The T510 offers optional NVIDIA NVS 3100M dedicated graphics, a full line-up of display options, and Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. In this review, we see how the ThinkPad T510 performs in our test lab and if you should add it to your Christmas shopping list.

That battery life is phenomenal. how does it do in the real world? Like watching Youtube, heavy web browsing, movie watching, etc?

What is the comparison with W510? I mean design-wise, not by the Intel specs...

Physically, the two are very nearly identical (heatsinks different, W510 has USB 3.0, etc.). Performance-wise, the W510 offers quad-core processors and much more powerful graphics chipsets. It does not, however, have switchable graphics, which severely impacts its battery life.

Very good battery, though just curious - almost a year after the announcement of T510, isn't this review considerably late? :)

    What about CPU whine?

Now that the screen seems to be not too bad after all, I've to decide between a T510 HD+ i5-560M and a T510 FHD i7-620M (~400€ difference).

I've not found complaints about the i7-620M causing any trouble, but every i5-560M Thinkpad user I've found via google complained about more or less CPU whine? Turning off power saving functions to reduce the whine is off the table for me.

Depending on whats available to Lenovo to send out to reviewers, not all models can be reviewed at or close to launch. Once we work through the main items, we still like to round out our review content to include as many particular models as we can. This is why reviews can crop up later in the season.

That and I really really wanted to see the 1600x900 HD+ screen in person :p

They did a T410s review about 4 months ago, and a W510 review back in March. Maybe you're confusing it with either of those?

It must be, but I could have swore they already did it. :p

I have a question Kevin. Is the heatsink larger than in the T410?
