Green is the new game in town for many manufacturers and Lenovo just launched a new notebook designed to fill the eco-friendly market segment. The new ThinkPad L-series is a near carbon copy of the previous SL-series but with a huge increase in recycled content. The L-series offers up to 30% post-consumer content, LED-backlit screens and green packaging that takes up 20% less space. If you're interested in a new eco-friendly notebook, check out our full review of the new Lenovo ThinkPad L512.

does it feel more like SL500 or W500 when using it?

Thanks for the review Btw it's a DC-input on the laptop, not an AC-input. The purpose of the seperate power adapter is to convert from AC to DC.

The review is missing the link to the SL510 "(insert link here)" and the larger photo sizes don't show up when you click on the photos.
The L512 seems to be a siamese twin to the SL510. The SL510 I had was prone to some flex around the keyboard, especially on the upper parts of the palmrest. How does the L512 fare in this regard?
(I returned the SL510 primarily due to getting wrist strain from the too thick palmrest, and secondarily to the low 1366*768 on 15" screen; otherwise I found it to be a good solid computer) -

Why did they have to drop the HDMI port and go for a silly display port? I don't want to buy a laptop only to be told I need to spend extra on silly adapters.

I think a very important point to note for those considering deploying these en masse (that seems to be glossed over) is that the L-series is now compatible with the same mini-docks and port replicators used for the current T and W series, unlike the very un-dockable SL series.

Is there a reason this is being sold for $1174 MSRP / $850 street? The display is the same garbage found on the cheapest 15" machines, the hard drive is 250GB @ 5400RPM which I believe is also the minimum for everything other than netbooks, the CPU is the second cheapest Intel currently offers, the battery life is surprisingly mediocre given the lack of a dedicated GPU, the weight is average and it only has 3GB RAM (most of the cheap machines now offer 4GB). This is among the cheapest Intel-based machines currently possible so I don't see why they're charging twice what it's worth.
