The Edge 14 is the latest consumer and small business-oriented ThinkPad from Lenovo. Edge notebooks offer toned down looks compared to the SL and T-series ThinkPads, even including modified Chiclet-style keyboards. In this review, we take an in-depth look at the 14-inch ThinkPad Edge and see how well it stacks up against other similar notebooks.

    Very nice review ...

I'm dying to figure out when I'll be able to get this laptop with a discrete GPU though. Lenovo advertised that the 14" and 15" models would be customizable ... but everything on their site is preconfigured!

Does anyone notice that the ThinkPad Edge 14 has roughly the same port layout and the bottom covers as the ThinkPad SL410?

I'm guessing they both share some common internals, if not parts wise, at least design wise.

    Nice review. Thank you.

It would have been interesting to have your thoughts about the Edge serie against the SL serie. But maybe would it be better to wait for June and the release of the sl420-520 for a proper comparative ?

Weaker hinges AND chicklet-style keyboards. Sigh... the watering-down of the Thinkpad series continues. As a longtime fan and user of Thinkpads, I am finding each new variant less impressive than its peer. Think I will be sticking with my R61 for awhile. Really, I think Lenovo should have marketed these models under a different series, rather than as a Thinkpad.

Any idea when we'll see the i5 versions with optional discrete graphics? Both are mentioned on Lenovo's US site but aren't available on any of the Edge 14 or 15 packages.
