I actually quite like it - and I think it will sell great. Once we start seeing some 20% discounts, it will be worth the price for sure.

Does anyone know what the material of the silver trim is? And how does the screen compare with, say, a Macbook Pro?

Strange... this Intel su7300 version has completely disappeared from the Belgian online shops (quite a few had it a few days ago).

However, the Lenovo European websites are slowly updating and the complete specs/prices are surfacing. Here's what is presented on the Belgian website (the NUE2MMB version).

    Processor AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual-Core L325 ( 1.50GHz )
Operating system Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
    Total memory 3 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
    Display type 13.3 " HD Glare 1366x768
Pointing device Industry Standard 2 button touchpad with TrackPoint
    Hard drive 250GB
    Battery 6 Cell Lithium-Ion
Network Card ThinkPad 11b/g/n Wi-Fi wireless
Bluetooth Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
    Finger Print Reader None
Warranty One year parts and labour (system battery: one year)

It goes for around 550€, vat included. Which isn't too bad a price and it has the 6-cells as default.

Does anyone know why Lenovo is charging Canadians an extra $400 for the same configured model? I'm not paying $1199 for a laptop this is advertised for $799 in the States.

I thought the no activity lights was an interesting thing, is there anything to compensate for it?

On the Lenovo Website this thing looks like a joke besides the R, T, W, X, and even the SL!

No, it is not normal Thinkpad standard but it still better than some ULV 11.6 notebooks out there now. The Sony Y series offers similar specs etc.

I was wondering though Lenovo advertises this as coming with GPS and WWAN.

Is there a slot for people to add this and does this notebook have the antenna in place? Or may be Lenovo was planning this model but never launched it. Now that would make this more of a worth while buy to me.

I am referring that this is nowhere near the ThinkPad regular standard, nor design, does not fit on the website. If it was between the IdeaPads it would shine there, but the T, W and X series have a much higher weight and appeal that the Edge IMO. It seems kinda lost between the ThinkPads, if you ask me.

Lenovo said that they are finally letting users swap the fn + ctrl key in the bios on new laptops.

Please can you tell us if it is available in the thinkpad edge?

Furthermore, it would be useful if any further reviews of Lenovo laptops would include something about the presence of this feature for prospective buyers.

I was watching the videos regarding the Edge on lenovo.com, and they make a clear delineation between this and the other ThinkPad's they make. Apparently, Edge is going to actually be a complete line of products, designed to be different from other ThinkPad models on purpose.

They referred to the other ThinkPad models as using the "Classic" form factor, and stated that they will continue to make ThinkPads in such a way. So it looks like two lines officially exist now, "Classic" and "Edge". :)

Then rename it to EdgePad or ThinkEdge or I dont know, but dont call it a ThinkPad when it is not (confirmed by booboo12 that it is a different line)
