It is indeed good, but when the battery life of the x220 is so great and they use a full blown processor, I see little market for those machines. Although 200 in savings is a great thing

I guess its for those who want something a bit more durable than the U260, while still being reasonably stylish?

I've had mine for less than 48 hours, but so far I'm diggin' it.

@coldmack, I think you hit it on the head. I saw the U260 a couple of months ago and really wanted it, but couldn't justify the price tag given that Sandy Bridge was just around the corner. I thought this would provide a similar form factor while still offering the latest processor at a slightly better price. In many ways I like the style of the E220s even better than the U260, with the "glaring" exception of the glossy screen here.

I think this is an ideal notebook for the commuter given its size but not for the business traveler due to the battery life shortcomings. My real life experience so far has been about 4 hours on a charge.

Can you comment a little more on the battery life? What were you doing during the four hours?

Also, how do you find the screen compared to glossy screens. I know it's not a matte screen, but how effective is the anti-glare?

I was doing the initial Windows setup and configuration, web browsing, app downloads and installations, all wireless. I had the screen pretty bright half the time (on the train) and fairly dim half the time (at home).

You can definitely see your reflection when the PC is off or when the screen is dim in a well lit area. It's not nearly as glossy as say an m11x. I recently played with an Acer TimelineX 1830, and the E220s is a little less glossy than that. For productivity I would prefer a matte screen but I will be using this for entertainment and multimedia about 2/3 of the time and this is actually pretty ideal for that.

Lenovo RapidDrive: 128GB SSD OR Hybrid 80GB SSD mSATA with HDD

How does one order the E220s with this option? It does not show up when configuring one online at shop.lenovo.com

Likely due to supply issues, it is not currently available to configure with an mSATA drive, although it does support it. If you want one, you currently have to order one separately (through Newegg, etc.) and install it yourself.
