Like the U160, gives the Acer 1830T a run for the money. Actually beats the 1830T with the added eSata and so far the 1830T only has Pentium U5400, Core i3-330UM, and Core i5-520Um options. I made a Size comparison between the two.

I really like the specs of the U160, lets just hope the battery life and screen have been improved. Anyone know which is better all around performer the i7um series or the standard i3 cpu?

Seeing all these new and update 11-13in laptops with the new intel i core cpu makes me wish for a Vaio TT with these updated specs.

Personally I'm more interested in the 13.3" Z360 ;). But yea its nice Lenovo is finally ditching the SU7300/SU4100 processor and going for something a bit more powerful.

Hard to say that this point. We haven't been able to get our hands on a notebook with the new 2010 ULV Core-series processors yet.

Didn't the X201s you reviewed come with the 2010 ulv i core cpu?

That is what I was thinking at first, but I checked the processor again and it was the 640LM where the U160 gets the 640UM. Small name change, big hardware difference. The i7-640LM is clocked at 2.13GHz with 4MB of cache. The i7-640UM is clocked at 1.20GHz with 4MB of cache.

A bit OT but, just to make sure the LM is equal the SL LV cpu right? I take then it then besides the clock speed their isn't much of a difference between UM series and the LM series. If so, I would take it then the UM could be overclocked with out much issue to match the LM?

Man I may get a base U160 if the price is under $550 and use with my external monitor.

Yes the LM's are equivalent to a SL, but the LM's have a higher graphics clock speed over the UM's, and the ram runs at 1066MHz while the UM's ram runs at 800MHz. If I were to get one, I'd want a Core i7-640UM in it.

Like everyone else...I'm very interested in the U160, especially if you can get it with a Core i7 ULV.

Also I like that Lenovo didn't hesitate to plop their new chiclet keyboard onto everything insight after it got great reviews on the Thinkpad Edge laptops.

Thank you. Now I wonder what the battery life would be on the U160 and if it would actually offer a LM cpu. The temptation to get a new i core based laptop is getting harder to resist, specially in the 12in and bellow size.

The screen resolutions are very low for a 'high end' entertainment class.

Lenovo Webpage. I really like the U160/U165. Speakers are on the bottom?

The U series is pretty slick but the Z is uninspiring for a "top-tier" model.

I think the Z360 has potential but the U160 seems to be a show stealer to me. 11 inch multimedia notebook with decent specs, esata, and a spiffy red lid. I wonder how much it will cost over the current U150.

It is like Lenovo is in my head. I asked for an ideapad with the edge keyboard and presto!

I love it. Hope I can afford it.

Lenovo makes such good products, but why do they keep settling for the crappy resolution for their bigger models? Beats me

I'm really liking the U160 as well. Admittedly when I had my U150, those were the specs I was looking for. I'm glad Lenovo is finally releasing it. I may have to give the U series a second look. ;) (I think I'm becoming a Lenovo addict )

GeForce 315M sounds a lot like the GeForce 320M present in the new MBPs... which is a pretty awful GPU.

Sorry Lenovo, Acer kicks your arse with the TimelineX 3820TG and it's Mobility Radeon 5650.

Perhaps, but it's still and Acer, which ignoring build quality means we may never see it in the states.

    Yeah,
First availability will make my decision between a u160 and a T1830. If neither is available my 2nd week June, I'll have to get a Toshiba t115 to tide-over my need for an 11.6"
