Lenovo has slipped out pictures of a new ultra-widescreen touchscreen netbook, looking very similar to the Sony Vaio P. This new model called the Pocket Yoga offers flip-over tablet functionality with the portability of a small netbook. No details have been released on price, what the specifications are, or if a working model actually exists, but we can’t wait to see one in person. Lenovo US has not said if this model will be sold in the US, but with polished PR images leaking out we are thinking this is a very real product about to be launched.

Just thinking that something that looks as sleek as this is going to run some form of Windows just feels so wrong..
-
When I saw the title of *Yoga* I was like??? lol.
Its actually quite nice looking. I'm interesting in seeing more on this, and if/when it will be released in the US.

I'll be in love with it if it has an Atom or Nano....but I'll curse Lenovo's souls if it uses an ARM.
-
That's sick!!!
what do they keep making things smaller and smaller???
I want a some more products like the W700!!! -
Pretty stunning IMHO. Hopefully it outperforms the Vaio P.
I feel like it needs to have touchpass-like functionality so I can just make purchases with it. -
Fits in the pocket much better than the Vaio P, and... uh... these ones.

"a tricorder is a handheld device used for scanning an area, interpreting and displaying data from scans to the user, and recording information." (Wikipedia Tricorder article)
Seriously, this thing looks really cool and I'd like to have one of these. But these smallish devices make me wonder what their intended purpose is. There have been new terms invented like MID, UMPC, Netbook. But methinks word-invention is so yesterday, we should choose a name everybody already knows.
"The standard tricorder is a general-purpose device used primarily to scout unfamiliar areas, make detailed examination of living things, and record and review technical data."
Well, if it has GPS, can "twitter" and has webcam or other input options, it's by definition a Tricorder.
So can we just call it like that? -
looks awesome-nothing about the price/spec?
-
Lol, not the back pocket thing, AGAIN...
-
also is it only me, or does anyone else think the material they used makes it look hideous? -
Why do promo pictures assume people should be putting computers in their back pocket!? Who does that!! Who wants to sit on $500 worth of hardware by accident! Looks pretty cool though.
-
Hey, my butt needs all the accessories it can get. It's kind of ugly right now .
-
Yea, I personally thing the material looks ugly. It looks like an electronic check book or small woman's wallet.
I didn't find the Sony P a useful device, and I don't think I'd find this to be all that useful either. It just looks far to small to do anything productive on, and will no doubtingly be priced on the higher end of the price scale. -

Why not just do away with the whole keyboard and make a suped up pocke.... wait, what's the point again? With the blackberry, iphone, and company, the utility of a minature netbook lacking a touchpad is questionable. Anyone can hop on the net from anywhere already on a phone. A netbook is useful because it's a really small laptop that still has the utility of a laptop; you can type and multitask, something a blackberry is too small for. But by trying to make the already small netbook even smaller, you take away from the comfort of a traditional laptop design by dropping the touchpad and creating extremely awkward screen ratios that aren't effective for typing/browsing... there's a point where small is either too small, or not small enough
-
With a touchscreen there's no loss in not having a touchpad.
-
Doesn't look as good as the Vaio P imo but maybe it'll be cheaper
-
guys,it is 2yr old prototype.
-
Yes, interestingly enough it's an over two year (!) old concept from Lenovo which leaked a few days ago. An according to Lenovo's very own blog only then they decided to release some official shots of the prototype (see link below).
The timing of course is interesting...that this leaks just now, shortly after the release of the Vaio P which has a very similar form factor. Perhaps Lenovo is trying to test the waters and (re)considering a commercial release. Question of course also is if the old prototype is an emtpy shell or if Lenovo actually already worked on the inside as well?!

Very interesting concept though... -
And I think they should really have put in a good voice recorder and/or a webcam into it. Cause I can picture journalists using this as a recorder/writer or even for students (price willing...) -
If it had some kind of linux variant OS I'd be more inclined to get one. -

Anyway, a lenovo that looks better then a vaio i mean wow. Of course a lenovo will last longer, but the Vaio's are always so sleek this may even outclass the P!
