    Yeah ... an acquaintance of mine recently purchased this machine and has been using it for a little while now. He has good things to say about it in general, but especially lauds the "bang for the buck" ratio. When I have looked at it and fiddled with it it seemed okay, tho the aesthetics are not my personal cup of tea.

    Looking for a laptop that can handle CoD and Battflefield. I don't care for all the latest and greatest games but want something future proof if that's even possible. Seems like the i7 y500 is the best bang for buck. I really looking to spend as little as possible.

    Since the performance bottleneck on a gaming laptop is the GPU and not the CPU, and gaming laptop buyers generally aren't as concerned with battery life (Haswell's biggest selling point), I'm not sure an inexpensive gaming laptop alienates its target market by using Ivy Bridge instead of Haswell.
