Better than FF with ABP? and using the MVPS hosts file?

Plus noscript, I don't think IE8 can beat that.

I love IE8. Everytime I use IE primarily and other browsers secondarily.

Actually, I have noted that it does pick up more malware than Firefox. IE8 is actually a pretty darn good browser right now.

Then again, good internet security suites can help browsers in blocking malicious content.
I've got Trend Micro Internet Security, and it actively blocks the nasty bits in both IE and Firefox.

That's based on regular people's usage.

But most people who use Firefox are not like that; adblock plus or no script at least.

It can't beat it, but it can match it. You know there's plugins for IE8 as well, right? You can have no-script on IE8 just like you can on FF. There's also flashblock, greesmonkey,adblock..etc and all the popular plugins for IE8.

Do you have a link to that NoScript Plugin? My googlefu is only finding alternatives(that are not as friendly as NS) or software based ones.

Besides, creating a system that is secure is not a priority, its creating one that feels secure is ;)

Anyways, for me its modified host files(works for any browser), Ramdisk for caches, NoScript+ABP for FF, and Sandboxie for IE...its all about layers

The question is, with both on an equal footing, does it still come out on top by that much of a margin? Or is it relatively close? The variables change, one man may have more heat resistant skin than other, but give them both flame suits and both are relatively invulnerable!

    According to the NSS Labs PDF test report;
' Data in this report spans a testing period of 12 days, from July 7 through July 18 2009'
' Generally available software releases were used in all cases'.
' Between the previous test and this one, all of the browser versions were upgraded to the latest available code.'

    Bollocks!

I wonder why they have been testing an older version of Firefox (3.0.11) when a more recent one, namely FF 3.5, was already available for consumers on June 30, 2009 and why they have used a newer version of Internet Explorer (8.0.7100.0) that was not generally available yet for consumers at the time of testing.

So they didn't test the newest FF release that was available and they tested an IE version that was not available.
I wonder what else is not true in this report but I really don't feel like ploughing through all the other details.
    Cheers.

I dunno if it's just me (it's been a while since I've used my nx9420 since it broke), but IE8 felt just slow and choppy, especially compared to my usual browser (K-Meleon).

I prefer Safari 4 over IE8. Feels faster and less loaded with stuff...
