does this sound familiar, "Intel pushes back release of next Pentium M chipset". LOL. Here we go again, the Sonoma and Alviso chips that were slated to be the next generation after the latest Dothan processor (which was really just an minor upgrade and not major upgrade in the chip) has been pushed back from Q4 2004 to Q1 2005. HP had planned to be selling notebooks with this chip in for Christmas, that isn't going to happen.

i think intel can get limited quatities for HP if it really wants.. but most likely it'll do it for dell so that it can "technically" take orders which are build to order and ship out a few while the rest "wait in production" LOL so they get christmas sales $$$ cuz people will think they'll get het laptop then they find out it's delayed :p

This is shocking. Ok, not really...blah. The PCI expess functionality will be big, in 2005 I suppose.

What are these supposed to do? I got a Dothan and thought that it was the big new upgrade. I have never heard of sonoma or alviso.

    From PC Mag -

The forthcoming Intel Alviso chipset will take even better advantage of the latest Pentium M chips, with support for faster DDR2 memory, the PCI Express bus (which is faster than PCI), Serial ATA drive interfaces, and better graphics and audio. Also, the Centrino platform will finally support 802.11a/g.
