Intel Centrino Brand Moving to Wireless Products
    [IMG]
Intel is revamping its CPU naming schemes in order to prepare for new products and move out old ones. The company will be introducing two new processor lines in the next several months, including the Core i5 and i3. Its current array of products will be phased away over time.

The Centrino tag notebook users are so familiar with will become the brand name for Intel's wireless products.

I'm glad they are trying to "standardize" everything, but you would think they could come up with a slightly less confusing way to do it.

I guess in 6-8 months it will be fine, but during the first generation of this new scheme its going to get weird for the consumer.

Wonder what they are going to call "all Intel" systems instead now if the CPU and the wireless device have seperate names

    This is rather confusing.
    But to sum up:
    i7 high end
    i5 mainstream
    i3 entry
    Pentium dependable and proven
    Celeron value

    right?

    Great!
First it's Nvidia with the GPU's and now Intel is getting into the act with the CPU's.
Pretty soon no one will know what the hell anybody is talking about
