    Just a quick comment, on Windows 8/8.1, it is entirely possible to follow all of this guide without needing admin rights. Device manager will launch with a pop up saying that you are logged in as a standard user and that you will be able to view settings, but that you won't be able to make any modifications.

    To my knowledge, it is not, trying to access the device manager will prompt for admin rights.

    For the CPU, GPU, Display Resolution and Memory I just use dxdiag

    its a separate program but I know many of the techs I talk to use Speccy to get a hardware idea over the phone as to what they are dealing with. Pretty popular with the nerd herd over at Best Buy plus it shows simple temps on the CPU
