Looks like Hitachi is bringing some serious storage to notebook systems. Get a 3-bay Sager or something, and you could have 1.5TB of storage in a laptop. Awesome!

I don't think they're TRUE 2.5"
They're a couple of millimetres thicker (due to the extra platter) and hence won't be any use for nearly all laptops or for that matter enclosures, unless of course a specific laptop is built taking the bigger dimensions into account. -

The thickness is 1/2" (12.5mm) which was the standard thickness for 2.5" HDDs in times past (and 3/4" before that).

I'm still on 250GB and have 320GB on 2 platters as an available upgrade path, so I won't be searching for a fat notebook which holds fat HDDs.
On a related subject, are there any rumours about the HDD manufacturers bringing out a thinner HDD, now that they put 160GB on one platter?
