    Intel plans to cut CPU prices for laptops in September. They will also be adding some new processors and cutting some others.

    E6550 has TXT (Trust Execution Technology) the E6540 does not.

    So for all practical purposes they are the same processor.

    This is pretty old news, if I am not wrong. I love the Q6600 at $266, thats an awesome deal.

    Yeah, quad core at $266 is just sweet. Just to think, I purchased my 2.4GHz dual core E6600 for more than that less than a year ago.
