Gigabyte’s new Aero 14 gaming notebook is a step up from the company’s existing 14-inch P34W. It packs gaming power typically found inside a 15.6-inch chassis, including a 6th gen Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, Nvidia GTX 970M graphics, and a 2,560x1,440 resolution IPS display. We went hands-on with this notebook, and came away quite impressed with the overall level of quality and ability to customize.

I find this notebook rather interesting. I would rather see a 1080p screen though.

Yeah. 2,560x1,440 isn't bad, but it's not a playable resolution in most games with the GTX 970M. Plus, you have to use Windows scaling to bump up the text size in most programs.

Is the USB type C port thunderbolt 3 capable? It's a make-or-break detail for me really. The 965 or 970 is good enough when I'm out and about, but I want to be able to use something like the Razer Core when at home to beef up the graphics.

I'd go for a Razer Blade, but the lack of upgradeable RAM and storage is very offputting, and the price is even more so...

I emailed Gigabyte about the TB3 functionality, I'll post up what I find.

I personally never understood the appeal of stuffing a > 1080P screen in small notebooks, it just makes no sense. The windows scaling is terrible.

Even 1080 is pretty tight on a 14".

Literally, the only difference between this and the P34W V5 is the larger battery.

Some of the specs are the same, like the CPU/GPU. See the article - the build, overall design and keyboard are redesigned/new. This is a different machine than the P34W V5.

    OK, fair enough.

Do you know if they were able to shave off some weight? Perhaps a smaller PSU?
