The HP dv2000t that replaces the dv1000 and the Compaq v3000t that replaces the v2000 are now available from HP.com for ordering. The AMD Turion X2 process dv2000z and v3000z options are not yet available and no dedicated graphics are yet available.

We expect the Turion X2, more graphics options and a matte screen option should show up around June 6th. People that have called to inquire about ordering a dv2000t or v3000t with the nVidia 7200 graphics card have been told by sales representatives that this is an initial release and more options will show up during the first week of June. If HP goes with the same naming convention they have in the past, the AMD Turion X2 models will be called the dv2000z and v3000z.

At the moment the Compaq v3000t model appears slightly cheaper than the HP dv2000t for the same configurations. Prices on the Compaq v3000t start at $1,008.40 while the dv2000t starts at $1,149.99.

    im disappointed.
aside from the aesthetics, this is far less appealing than its predecessors.
not only are you paying a premium, but these models actually GAINED weight, ~ .2lbs. they jacked up the prices for customization as well.
    ram configuration:
    2x256
    2x512
    2x1gig
    WTF
that's the most annoying choices i have ever seen.
i would take the opportunity to buy the soon to be discontinued dv1000/v2000 series at a bargain.

This is one sexy notebook, but I have some questions

Does anyone know if the remote control, similar to the dv1000, is included with the dv2000? I was looking at the order form and it seems like it's not, but I'm not entirely sure?

Also, does it seem worth to buy the dv2000 instead of the dv1000t? The specs seem about the same, but you save a few hundred dollars.

Finally, I've asked this in the past, but does anyone know when the dv2000 will be available in Canada?

You are always gonna pay more to be first in line. Odd they left off the 1.66GHz and Core Solo options being it is a budget notebook.

The remote is included. Go back and configure again. It's at the bottom of the page. You can actually uncheck it.

I just checked out the website and was disappointed to see that the only optiion for the screen was the Brightview. I'm partial to the matte style instead. Too bad they don't give you the option :(

I contacted HP because of all the pre-sales info regarding a dedicated graphics card for the dv2000t. They said "The HP Pavilion Configure To Order DV2000T series of notebook computers will not offer anything other than what is currently offered for graphics accelerators." Anyone have any insite on this? What's the difference between the dv2000t and the v3000t?

Do the HP or Compaq models come with any shock/drop protection on the hard drive or other components? Toshiba and Dell both have some type of protection.
Is this casing just plastic, or magnesium/titanium/carbon fiber (yeah right)?
I'll be travelling a lot with mine, need something durable.

I'm torn between this and the Dell e1405... I like the HP, but I can get the Dell for just over $1000 with coupons ($450 off $1500 or more).

Intel is dropping the prices of Core Duos by up to 33% on their CPUs on May 28, hopefully this will bring the prices down a bit, although HP might have already factored that into the price.

    Discrete GPU not available yet.

    I'd wait a few months...

Just wanted to shorten it up a bit. Like calling someone Mike instead of Micheal if you will. A lot of people here refer to me that way anyway. Nice car by the way.

THe dv2000 is soooo sexy!!! the only problem is it seems reallly weak =/.. and expensive for the pricing. too bad we can't buy a barebones version of this...

Do any other laptops have the quickplay option? i know dell has something similar but anyone else?

Since the 950 in these notebooks is now known to be capable of running full vista aero glass, Im opting out of discrete gfx for heat and power reasons.

Does anyone know when these will hit best buy? Id like to take a good hard look at the case and all.

    For what its worth...

The support pages of hp.com list these as available models... From what I've read before, I believe the tx models are the turon models. Anybody else able know what the la, ea, and xx models will be?
Too bad the links go to the Compaq v2000 page, instead of manuals for the dv2000...
