It's not another notebook segment, but an installment in HP's Pavilion tablet lineup which they have been producing many years now.

All HP Pavilion tablets up to this point have been AMD-based so this Intel one is a nice change and hopefully addresses complaints about heat.

It is a bit pricey though, especially once you start adding options.

Its a tablet pc that uses Intel culv processors. Its an evolution of HP's tablet pc lineup that now uses Intel instead of AMD processors.

That picture makes the touchpad look beyond gigantic. Too bad, I actually liked the dimpled touchpad of the previous tx series.

Looks good - I'd love to see a review of this. I'm especially curious about the heat management (the previous HP tablet PCs using AMD Turions were horrible at that) and display quality.

Is it just me or does it look oddly like the 2710p/2730p series but with a different color scheme? o_O

Other than that it does look like a nice tablet although a bit pricey I agree. I wonder if it's using a Wacom or N-Trig digitizer this time around.

I don't get why they didn't use Arrandale ULVs with the Intel HD graphics :\

Also Could u buy an aftermarket SL processor and put it in here? the SL's has better performance with only a little higher power needed, Or any other intel c2d mobile processor for that matter

Unlikely, CULV's usually are soldered to the motherboard. Plus, the fact that HP includes the GPU option along with the CPU indicates to the presence of three motherboard SKU's, one for each combination of CPU and GPU.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Since the GPU is only available with a certain processor, that seems to indicate that the processor is soldered on the mobo: there is only one motherboard with the discrete GPU, while there are two other ones with the GMA 4500MHD.

    EDIT:
Actually, from looking at HP's website, there seem to be these three configurations -
    Intel(R)Core(TM)2 Duo SU7300 (1.30GHz, 800MHz FSB) w/Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    Intel(R)Core(TM)2 Duo SU7300 (1.30GHz, 800MHz FSB) w/512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4550 Graphics
    Intel(R)Core(TM)2 Duo SU9600 (1.60GHz, 800MHz FSB) w/512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4550 Graphics

Maybe Intel gave them a better deal? The C2D ulv's were probably cheaper and not full price compared to the Arrandale's.

It's probably a question of price. I mean, the main reason they probably used AMD CPUs in the first few lines was most likely because it was cheaper. Tablets have the premium price of their tactile screens and digitizers so adding in new or fancy tech would just skyrocket their prices further.

Man this is really tempting. I would almost trade my Vaio TT for this. Key word being almost.

Well from the looks of things it lacks firewire, or firewire mini, and the screen looks a bit glossy for my taste. The TT screen has really spoiled me.

Ah ok, the screen can be a pretty important part when selecting a notebook.

I haven't heard much about the TT's screen, though anything's better than HP's "Brightview" screens. Ugh.
