I, on the other hand, think that any manufacturer that still offer only 1280x800 resolution should be stoned.

My D420 is 1280x800 and I'm not impressed. No screen real-estate to do any real work.

I'm with you all the way. When I see computers like Dell and Lenovo offering their wuxga options on the 15.4" screens at 1920 x 1200 full HD support, that just gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. Then when i see HP offering 1280 x 800 all the up to 15.4" I honestly feel like vomiting. I mean 1280x800 on the 13.3 is great, don't get me wrong, but i better not see that on the larger sizes!! Plus how hard is it to offer two or three resolution options to satisfy everyone?? Dell and Lenovo have no problem doing it. I really hope Voodoo does the same, because I am really really liking their design compared to anyone else.

What would be the ultimate in my opinion is wuxga along with LED backlight. Amazing... God, I can't wait to see the 15.4" o 15.6" version of Voodoo. I'll bet it will be mouth watering. Just got a hunch from the way they are hyping everything up in their Voodoo forum. They are keeping everything mysterious and teasing us all till the very end till they release these units. Keep your fingers crossed for some technology feats!!

Hence why I said under 15.4"... as in, not 15.4".

If you buy a laptop with a screen smaller than 15.4", chances are you're not doing it for any work that requires anything more than 1280 x 800 -- you're buying it for portability and being able to simply have a computer with you where you go.

Of course, some buy 14.1" because 15.4" is too big, but I think most of those would want 1280 x 800 for a similar reason.

I don't see how you can equate doing certain type of work with requiring a certain resolution. Its just a personal preference. I can run photoshop on 640x480. Its not required that I have 1920x1080, but it sure would be nice. I'm just saying that offering only 1280x800 with no other options is a bad idea, especially for such a high priced notebook where people probably aren't buying it just to browse the web.

Oh, come on. HP offers WUXGA resolutions on its business notebook lineup, which is equivalent ot Lenovo's Thinkpad. Please research before posting such misleading comments.
Lenovo doesn't offer anything greater than WXGA on its 15" Ideapad, so it's not better than HP in any way.
Dell is the only manufacturer to offer anything greater than WXGA for its consumer notebook lineup and that deserves true recognition.

Wooh, dude, calm down. I know that already, I was refering to the models that they do offer in those resolution options where as HP does not offer that in their consumer models up to 15.4 size. When I speak of Lenovo, I only mean the thinkpads, and when I speak of HP, I only mean the consumer models. Just clarifying on that. I did say that Dell was one of the companies to offer the wuxga if you read my previous post. I know that HP has those options for the business lineup but what I ment was that they should have it throughout all their lineups, consumer too. That's all. I just think their consumer lineup is flashier and sexier than their business lineup. I am not into the lenovo consumer notebooks as they don't have any customization options, you get what you get. I don't see how my comment is misleading when clearly when you go on the website of HP under consumer notebooks it is all 1280 x 800, even in the giant 17" model it only goes up to 1680 x 1050. Maybe you are the one that is not doing enough research.

To end confusion, let's just forget about the other manufacturers, all I really was saying was that I hope to God Voodoo Offers options, options, and more options, and does not skimp on options as other manufacturers tend to do. That was my bottom line. For example, I cannot stand the fact that dell has so many options to their computers yet has no 64 bit os option, while HP has much less options, but has 64 bit os. Things like that drive me nuts.

I'm not even aware of a 12.1" screen that has a higher resolution than 1280x800...

Isn't Voodoo supposed to be a gaming manufacturer? What's with the X3100 graphics?

They were one when they were a solo business, but since HP bought it, it has become more of a business high end type.
