Windows 8 is too complicated for most people.

Surprisingly , some of my old laptops run better with Windows 8 overall.

First, broken link to the full article.

Second, the article summary implies that you have to be switching from Windows 8 to get the $150 discount on an HP Windows 7 machine. They price your new machine based upon the OS of your previous machine? That can't possibly be right?

Finally, most of the laptops on HP's page have "instant discounts" of one type or another. Is this just one more case of a device that's got an artificially-inflated MSRP and is always "on sale" from that MSRP for one reason or another?

The $150 savings seems hard to prove. I think the point here is that Windows 7 is still available on new laptops. Smart move on HP's part if you ask me. This announcement must have upset M$ a bit.

It might be a move to get rid of those last remaining Windows 7 "keys" they have floating around, you never know :D

But that's not new news. Hasn't Win 7 always been available on a number of laptops from Dell, Lenovo, and HP? Right now I've got a browser window Thinkpad E431 with Win 7 selling for $599 on lenovo.com and an Inspiron 15 with Win 7 selling for $399 on dell.com. That's also true on high-price builds; our office is thinking of ordering a bunch of top-spec Thinkpad T440 models with Win 7, and Win 7 is the default OS on all Alienwares.

Also, "M$" from the lead moderator of notebookreview? Seriously? Should I also expect NBR staff to use phrases like "Crapple" and "Fandroid"?

My post vs. your reply seem mismatched - just relax. Even in a crazy dream I'd not have conceived a reply like that to my post.

I'm aware Windows 7 is offered by several companies.

You're more than welcome to message me privately if something I do/say strikes you the wrong way; doing so in public is underhanded and insensitive.
