Just a bump for this topic![]()

Jeez wtf...I really do hope it comes out "in time for the holiday season".
I even e-mailed HP via their website and the sales rep said that they won't know the release date until they are told...so I'm sure it's coming out in the US, but the question that I'm dying to know is: WHEN!? -
-
Never got a date about when it ends, but the Verve at BB is long past it's "end date".

Try contacting Best buy?!
-
Uhm, to let you guys know, I contacted HP through chat about this model and it is available as Configure To Order (CTO). You have to configure a dv2500t and try talking (I would recommend chatting online) with the rep to buy the 2500t but the Verve finish. I asked the lady (Kacey) 3 times to make sure I was getting the Bronze/Black version that is on Best Buy's website. I haven't made my order yet as I won't have the money until Thursday/Friday. I say contact the rep through chat and discuss so you can get immediate replies. The rep told me (as someone else has stated here) that the 2600 is the same as the 2500t but just a different imprint. Just ask them. I'll tell you guys how my order goes next week (if you can wait that long).

Thanks for the info, but what's the point of all that...I just want to see an OFFICIAL HP announcement saying that US consumers can finally customize and order on their US site.
Whew...in a way I'm glad that the "announcement" was made back in September (because I didn't even think of HP at the time), but still...what an agonizing wait.
If I see nothing after Thanksgiving and nothing in the December catalog, I'm just going to be very disappointed. I suppose I'll have to do the whole calling-and-pleading thing. -
-
So what then, forget the WHEN now, the basic question is if the CUSTOMIZABLE dv2600 is even coming out at all. -
-
Well I just had the unsuccess that others have recieved about it not being available as CTO. I'm just gonna buy it from Best Buy, I want a better processor and vid card (just for minor play with Counter-Strike) but it's not that big of a deal since I will mostly be programming and such on it.
-
I had a chat with one of the HP reps online. She said that the possible of getting a 2600 se that is customizable is very slim. I guess, the long wait will be over for me. For those of you guys using the DV6500SE how do you like the performance of that notebook?
-
See this is what I don't like. There's no definite YES or NO.
People have talked to HP reps and some have said it's coming very soon and some like yours doubts it.
Not cool. -
-
I think you can wait a month or two, at least until the end of the holiday season. However, since Santa Rosa notebooks are new, they will be around for a while...

Yeah this is annoying. I know I'm bombarding this thread, but I need to vent...
I called a sales rep today. Just like the e-mail response I recieved weeks ago, they responded by saying they just DON'T KNOW because they don't get any information of upcoming products until it's official.
So not only was this September article misleading, but I'm sure it's disappointed a lot of US potential HP buyers.
I really want to get an HP laptop. I like the Verve design a lot, and if only they could have this design as an OPTION, then that would be great. (In this case I would opt for a 6500 with a Verve design). Some people give up and just go ahead and buy the Best Buy product but come on. I want to be able to configure my laptop damn it.
So Zedox, please tell us what happens with your request. If you do get a verve-designed laptop, then that's what I'll do. As for ordering a dv2600 overseas, is that exactly reliable? Will it cost more? Isn't it all just a hassle? -
Those who want to configure this notebook, try calling HP and quote this product number to them "GM738AV". This is supposed to be the internal product number for CTO units for the dv2600t, but I'm not sure if the Verve imprint is standard, so just check it. The inventory listing is a bunch of product numbers, do saying dv26xxse won't usually help the reps in finding out the exact product you're looking for.
Anyway, I had a chance to play with one of these today with a T7500 and 8400M and I can tell you it's pure ***. I am so tempted to get it but must resist because I know it's not something I want/need (already have an ugly-by-comparison 8510w on order). It really does look great in real life because the imprint highlights are so detailed it's amazing. Puts the Macbooks to shame. Battery life is pretty poor with the 6-cell though. Screen quality is really good, not as grainy or washed-out as Toshiba's new glossy screens. The touchpad is also a disappointment as it's not properly textured and the on/off buttons are a bit too recessed. Keyboard has minimal flex, typical Vista style keys, OK but not as good as the business notebooks.
Overall build quality is pretty solid. This thing shuts with a solid thud, hence has the "expensive" feel, even if made mostly from plastic. -
That configuration is just what I need Chrixx, how much was it priced?

Any news on this coming to Canada?
