Many people search for that one netbook that can provide a mix of ultraportability, good performance, long-lasting battery life, and durability--at a reasonable price. We believe the HP Pavilion dm1z offers this mix, making for a very suitable netbook to tote around with you on your summer vacation.

I think I should counter your recommendation with the HP 210 Mini - it is lighter, smaller, has a battery that lasts a full hour longer, and the 2C/4T N570 CPU provides processing power on par or better than the E-350. You can also pick one up fully-loaded for just $404 with coupon.

Making recommendations is one thing, but I believe in giving readers a convincing testimony with hands-on experience. I also think readers should be free to decide for themselves, provided they've been given the bigger picture. But you cannot ignore the fact that the 10" 210 Mini is the best bang-for-the-buck netbook available today.

The N570 may perform on par or better than the E-350 in synthetic benchmarks, though I must point out that the E-350 still wins in the majority of benchmarks, but, having used the N550 and E-350 extensively, the E-350 feels much faster.

Not to mention the graphics on E-350 completely destroys Atom graphics. Sure, there are N550/570 netbooks for ~$250 but for ~$150 more you get a much snappier feeling notebook, with the ability the play games.

At the same price point it isn't even close, the E-350 is the much better buy

If the N570 only had hdmi. That's a fail.

I really like my dm1 but I would like to see an Intel option. Would be interesting to see a dm1 with i3 and a 9 cell battery option for a nice ultraportable.

Current Intel options would be more expensive. That's why I own a dm1z instead of an Intel laptop.
