I've read a lot of in-depth reviews on this, mostly positive. I was hoping this site would have a review as I like how in-depth they go into. I ordered it last week and looking forward to playing with it this week.

No doubt....I really want to jump, but I want to see NBR's take first before doing so.

I've been on the fence on getting the 5101 with the HD screen for over a week now. Everything looks great, except the measured contrast. According to notebookcheck.net, it's only 150:1, with worse black levels than almost any other notebook! I haven't been able to inspect one in person, but I noticed that the contrast on the Mini 110 (at Best Buy) is visually weak, with visible light leakage from the bottom, and uneven illumination. It's especially bad when seen side-by-side with the EEE PC 1005, which has an exceptional contrast (over 950 according to notebookcheck). I hope the 5101 has a better screen (at least on the HD). HP's service manual claims the contrast should be 400:1 (but the other numbers look incorrect for this model).

If you have a 5101, what do you think? How does the contrast look? E.g. in a white-on-black command prompt? Is there noticeable light leakage from the sides, especially when tilted vertically?

No. Normally a mod let us know when a thread has been closed.

Thanks very much for the reply Serg.
The bezel does seem somewhat big, but the reviews I have read are really favorable.
Actually I wonder if any 5101 owners could provide some feedback on heat and fan issues. Does the machine get hot or is it noisy?
I am leaning toward the 5101, but wanted to make sure there are no heat issues.
The other options I am looking into right now are the hp mini 311 (with ion gpu) and the samsung nc120, but none of these seem as well built as the 5101.
    Any comments???
