The Mini 210 HD is the latest netbook from HP, offering a full 720P-compatible 1366x768 resolution on a compact 10.1-inch display. This model includes the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor standard-with the faster 1.83GHz N475 for $25 more-as well as Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics. In this review we see how well this netbook holds up against the competition and if you should consider this over a slightly more powerful CULV notebook.

This is not a valid test IMHO because Apple's Quicktime performance on Windows is crap... I gave up on it a long time ago. In general, a much better test is to use the Zune movie store, or the download feature of Amazon VOD. (The Amazon files can be played back in Windows Media Player.)

However, it shouldn't matter much in this case... according to this page, the GMA 3150 only supports hardware acceleration for MPEG2 videos... not H.264 (Apple Quicktime and Adobe Flash) or VC-1 (Microsoft). So yeah... I guess you need the Broadcom Crystal HD card in practice.

Also... No HDMI port on this "HD" netbook?

Intel GMA 3150 doesent support HDMI. :(
Gotta grab a Ion or AMD specced netbook / culv notebook for that.

Good to hear that the 210HD is turning out pretty well. I am considering getting one of these with the Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator. Can anyone that has a Mini 210 HD with the broadcom chip comment on how well it plays 720p MKVs? Or more detail on removing the bottom cover?

A Broadcom Crystal HD decoder card should handle 1080p video fine, and it should be supported by Flash 10.1.
From googling around i found out that the first drivers made the card generate some extra heat, but was fixed in the 3.3.0 driver update from Broadcom.

The 3-cell battery looks nice being flush with the base, but its a real buzz kill at only a few hours.

I wonder how the performance of the model with the 1.83GHz N475 will be...

IMO this is the best looking netbook on the market. Very macbook/envy-ish in a portable/affordable package. It's just too bad the 6 cell sticks out horribly out the back and bottom, kinds of ruins the look. Then the 3 cell's run time makes it pointless as a netbook.
