[IMG]HP spent the last several years developing its ENVY line of notebook PCs into a lust-worthy series of premium laptops with sleek lines and cutting-edge performance. The 17-inch ENVY 17 is the largest in the ENVY line and as such has room for some of the best processors and graphics available at a starting price of around $1,200. We took a closer look at this notebook to see if it's worth its weight in aluminum.

I agree with the reviewer that HP is apeing Apple's case design too closely, and instead should find a unique design aesthetic of its own. That said, I'm really impressed by the new Envy 17. It's possibly my favorite consumer-oriented desktop replacement on the market right now, and I'm not someone who historically has been into the HP brand.

Great review Jerry. If I were in the market now, the ENVY 17 would be top of my list.

Shame about the screen (both the glossy, glassy screen, and the weak lid) but otherwise would probably be my pick for 17".

Even with not matching the "7 hours" battery life, 5 hrs and change is still a lot for a 17" given what you get at this price range. Wish I had the $$ or the need.

Great review as always but for some reason it looks pink, either I have to recalibrate my screen colors or HP has some explaining to do.
