I wouldn't touch anything 1366x768 in the 15+" form factor with a 10 foot pole, but for the price, this is actually not unreasonable (assuming you're not getting what you paid for...).

The only bizarre decision is the pricing on the processors. There is no way the N830 (3 cores, 2.1GHz, 1.5MB L2 cache) is worth $75 more than the N620 (2 cores, 2.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache). AMD's mobile CPUs do not turbo boost so the much higher clocked N620 will always win in single and dual-threaded tasks, but I would be it is superior even in most multi-threaded ones. Based on clock speed alone, the advantage of the N830 is only 12.5%, but the N620 has twice the cache per core and since both of them are already cache starved, I think it will win out.

A 1366x768 resolution on a 15.6-inch screen is downright pathetic, I agree. It's a justifiable complaint even on a budget notebook.
I have 1366x768 on my 13.3-inch notebook and while it is quite usable, using two windows side-by-side is impossible and a lot of scrolling is necessary in documents and web pages.

As we have been noting in our notebook reviews, even 14-inch notebooks should realistically come with 1600x900 as a minimum.

You'd think there would be a slow push/progression for higher resolutions considering how 720/1080p media is slowly proliferating.

    Thats a nice deal. :)
My brother doesent care about screen size since he would play games on it and aint the ATI Mobility Radeon 545v just a HD 4650 gpu?
Just hope its not unreasonabley priced when it hits the norwegian stores. :(

No, you are probably thinking of the 550v, but even that is not equal to the 4650 (it has the same architecture, but lower clock speeds). The 545v is much more likely to be based on the MR 4500 cards.

I think the 545v is basically the 4570

Unfortunately, there is also a proliferation of flash games on FB and other places that don't support full screen or zoom mode...

Still, a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 had no problems playing Garry's Mod, and thats his favourite game.
The only problem with the laptop he uses now is that the cpu is a hot AMD Turion x2 something.
Undervolted it slightly but its still hot.

Is it a typo or is this thing really the lightest 15.6" full-feature laptop on the market now, at 4.85 lb?

I think it is a typo. HP lists it as 5.5lbs

5.5 lb on the icon. 4.85 lb on the text on the spec page.

I was thinking maybe it's more like 5.85 lb. Still, 5.5 lb is not bad. Really considering getting this for my in-laws, with 25% BCB.
