Oh thanks for the info, but if I get the 2510p it will be the model with the 80gb - 4200rpm and I was wondering if it were possible to buy a bigger and faster harddrive and put it in

Do you guys think it will be possible to upgrade the 2510p to 4GB RAM when 4GB SO-DIMMs become available? I know the chipset supports that but I am not sure what other problems can arise with the Bios and other things. Anyone have an idea?

The santarosa intel 965 mobo chipset only supports max 2GB per dimm. I havent heard about any laptop chipset currently available supporting 4GB per dimm. As there is only 1 Dimm in this laptop, max you can go is 2GB.

If you need performance you can always use the Vista Readyboost utility using a flash drive. I dont see any situation when you need super high performance when you're on the fly, so 2GB serves well for outdoors.

Ok, I guess I was under the wrong impression that the chipset will not be a problem. Thanks for pointing out the Readyboost utility, it is an interesting feature that I wasn't aware of. Will read some more about it.

The reason I am interested in this is that I am going to be using the 2510p as my only computer so it will be nice to be able to get more RAM for times when I do need more performance.

For those like my that have a 2510p I just found I very good deal on the WWAN MINI PCI-E Unlocked:

    ($79)

    One question:
Is there a faster HDD that I can buy to upgrade the original one?

    Thanks

Since it's a 1.8" HD the fastest upgrade you can get is to 5400RPM.

Hi Andrew. I read a lot but I didn't found out which HDD is compatible.

First I tought that I should buy a 1.8" PATA HDD but I opened my laptop and the connector doesn't look like PATA.

I don't know if this is SATA either.
If I type on google the HP replace # it says SATA, if I type the Toshiba # it says ATA, and I don't recognize this connector. About the size, it's 1.8" or 2.5"?

Here is a picture I took:

Can you help me find the right HDD to upgrade? The only thing I don't like about the laptop is the HDD speed.

Edit: I found this one: cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SAMSUNG-HS122JC-120GB-1-8-5400RPM-ZIF-HARD-DRIVE_W0QQitemZ160296221002QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item160296221002&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

That looks exactly like my HDD. The interface is a PATA one. The connector is a ZIF. You'll need to look for a 1.8 PATA ZIF drive or an SDD.

I have one of these at work and it is really inadequate on Vista and anything but email and simple spreadsheets. Integrated video is awful if you have a docking station and a large screen because there is no digital out. The keypad, screen and battery are good. But it bluescreens all the time and takes 12 minutes to boot on Vista.

    Hi there,
I have crashed my flexible HDD to ZIF connector cable as I want build in a Mtron 32GB SSD. :-( As I try it with a other cable the same again) Never I can put the connector cable to the ZIF connector :-(
Is there a special trick? Maybe the experts can upload a "howto" ?

I ordered 2 new pieces of this cable here:

    http://www.pchub.com/uph/laptop/588-42811-9947/UPH-For-Laptop-Hp--HDD-Cable---OEM.html

I´m wondering, from other external USB 1,8" PATA ZIF the cable fits perfect to Harddisk, but if you disconnect one times the original HP Part from HDD, you can never put it again?

Maybe somewhere knows where I can buy in Europe a original Harddisk with connector cable as spare? I´m completly confused :-(

    best greetings

    Joy

    Hi Joy,

I do have a similar problem with the 2510p. I removed the original HDD and diconnected the ZIF cable. I like to build in a new SSD from Runcore. But now the new drive as well as the old drive doenst work with the original HP cable. The notbook always says "check the cable" and no hdd is availabe in the bios and during the start.
The cable you ordered is not available in the shop anymore.

Did your SSD work with the new cable?

    Thanks
    Yotis
