I was reading CNET, Gizmondo, and the HP site and found their announcement of the new Pavilion laptops and their new EliteBook line, which seems to be the new name for HP Compaqs.

"HP today marked the broadest and most innovative notebook rollout in its history with the introduction of 16 new models designed with new materials and software features that enrich the user experience.

Unveiled at its Connecting Your World event, the newly redesigned notebook families are available in an array of sizes and configurations – including the all-new HP EliteBook premium series – providing a broad selection of mobile computing options to meet the personal style and performance needs of most anyone."

HP consumer notebooks deliver exquisite design and powerful entertainment

HP Pavilion Entertainment notebooks set a new standard in notebook design with unexpected innovations such as invisible “magic chrome” controls that light up and become fully interactive upon power up, and intuitive, one-click access to high-definition TV,(5,6) photos, movies and music from nearly any location through HP QuickPlay.

Smooth lines, optional HP BrightView Infinity Widescreen flush-glass screens, along with color-matched keyboards and touch pads create a frameless, thin and elegant appearance.

Previously available only in HP business-class notebooks, HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection is now built into the new HP Pavilion notebook series targeting consumers. This technology automatically detects if a notebook has been dropped and, while the notebook is on its journey to the floor, automatically stops the hard drive from spinning, helping to prevent the loss of files and data. The series also offers consumers the option of a high-speed eSATA interface for backing up data to external storage drives.

Additional details on the HP Pavilion dv4, dv5 and dv7 Entertainment Notebook PCs are available at www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2008/connecting/na_consumernotebook.pdf.

    Style made simple and affordable

Designed for those on the go, the versatile HP Compaq Presario notebook PC line includes a new industrial design and HP Imprint 2 surface finish, a range of optical drives, built-in wireless(7) technologies and high-quality audio, webcam and analog microphone capabilities. More information about the Compaq Presario CQ45, CQ40 and CQ50 Series Notebook PCs is available at www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2008/connecting/na_consumernotebook.pdf.

To help users personalize their notebook experiences, HP also introduced a number of mobile accessories, including the HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station and HP Bluetooth® Stereo Headphones with active noise cancellation.

    Voodoo brand launches sophisticated portfolio

An expanded portfolio of Voodoo branded products combine luxurious quality, personalized styling and rich technology innovation in the ultra-light, ultra-mobile Voodoo Envy notebook and the powerful new Voodoo Omen deskside PC.

At 0.70 inches thin and weighing less than 3.4 pounds,(6) the Voodoo Envy is a showcase of ultra-mobility and thermal engineering in a tiny, sophisticated carbon-fibre chassis. It features a host of innovations, including an Ethernet port built into the power supply, which enables customers to roam free from a wired connection.(1) The Envy boots in seconds – giving instant gratification and access to Internet browsers and Skype.(1)

The new Voodoo Omen blends art with engineering excellence – from its integrated copper liquid cooling pipes to its built-in, fully functional LCD auxiliary screen and all-aluminum chassis.

The exteriors of both systems sport classic design elements that make the final product look as much like an art piece as an innovative piece of technology. Customers can personalize the systems at the redesigned Voodoo website – www.voodoopc.com.

A news release on the new Voodoo Envy 133 and Voodoo Omen is available at www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2008/080610xc.html.

The old dv6000 actually looks nicer... I can't really judge until i see it in person. Reminds me of the toshiba line now. I really hope it isn't so.
