I just have to shake my head in wonder after reading that HP will discontinue numberpads on all notebooks smaller than 17 inches. Why? According to the news article, it was because some users found the keyboards with number pads uncomfortable to use! I think if HP were really telling the reason they would admit that it saves them money.

When I saw an entry level HP G60 with the 15.6 inch screen and the full keypad I snatched it up. I did not want the AMD processor, but at the time it was that or none. This basic computer has done everything I need and sure makes number entry a breeze with the number pad to the right of the keyboard. So, if HP had polled me, I'd say keep it!

Haha, you really think it came down to the 56-cents that HP saved per keyboard? I'm with the majority here, the number pad is good in concept but terrible in function.

I'm waiting for companies to start including a slide out number pad above (or in place of) the DVD tray...

number pad = off-center trackpad (either off-center of the laptop body itself, or the keyboard)
