I love the backwards thinking at HP....

    Let's make a 10" Android tablet with a 1080p screen!! Also, let's make a 13" windows tablet...with a 720p screen...and then let's charge twice as much for it!!!!

Yeah. As soon as I saw that, "what the hell...?" immediately ran through my mind. HP, you're doing wonders for the computer industry ;).

720p at 13" is still acceptable but i agree, it doesn't justify twice the cost.

Would an x86 Intel IB and Windows 8 really make this twice as expensive? Twice as fast? Twice as productive? Twice the battery life? etc/

Yeah, the normal "1080p is too expensive for this $800 price point" argument falls apart when you're selling a 1080p Android tablet PLUS dock for $399. 1080p is no longer premium; it's par for the course for Ivy Bridge convertible tablets. This model is a step back from the standard set by the Duo 11, XPS 12, Ativ Smart PC Pro, Surface Pro, etc.

I can't figure out the HDD set up in this thing. The tablet part has an ssd in it? If so is it upgradable by the user? The dock has a spot for an HDD, but again can the user so this?

I wish the resolution was higher on this. The envy x2 was almost perfect minus, but this could have sold me if the screen was better.

Envy x2 had a nice size for tablet use. I wonder if this would be too large to comfortably use as a tablet.

Not only HP. Every manufacturer does the same.
Windows adds up cost. Also windows need to at least 64gb of flash.
Android can even run on 4GB flash and cost nothing.

Now a days both mirosoft and intel are causing the laptop prices go high. The cost of cpu is increased by Intel. Mirosoft is forcing some hardware necessities like touch.

These tablets are like netbooks with touch screens.
