In our ongoing quest to find attractive cases for electronics, I've recently reviewed two Golla products: a laptop sleeve and a small MP3/camera case. Like these products, the Golla Laptop Bag comes in a variety of designs and colors, sure to please the most eclectic tastes.

But I was wondering if the Golla Laptop Bag would be as functional as it is creative? The other two Golla products proved to be as useful as they were bright, but is that possible with a laptop bag as bright red and orange as this one?

    The Golla Laptop Bag Specifications

    • Dimensions: 16" x 11" x 5"
    • Notebook compartment: 14.5" x 10" x 2.5"
    • Weight: approx. 15.6 oz
    • 100% polyester
    • 80% polyester, 20% nylon lining

    Design and Aesthetics

The Golla Laptop Bag is a messenger style bag with a twist; the twist being nine different design choices in an array of colors.

I reviewed the Picnic 15.4" laptop bag which is bright red with a flower burst design and orange lining/accents. The Picnic 13" is turquoise with the same flower burst design and a green lining/accents.

The outside flap closes with Velcro and the inside of the flap is made out of polyurethane.

On the inside of the Golla Laptop Bag, there are several pockets/compartments. Working front to back, there are two zippered pockets.

The first zippered pocket is smaller than the second and could be used to store smaller, thin accessories, a cell phone, keys, a thin wallet etc. This pocket would also be good to keep items that might leak or bleed in, such as markers, pens or for the ladies, makeup.

The second zippered pocket is divided into three sections and the first section has four pen/pencil holders. This pocket could be used for medium sized, thin accessories, small office supplies, a digital camera, chargers etc.

Behind these pockets, there is a large open compartment that can be closed with a drawstring for added protections. This compartment is divided into two smaller compartments: a notebook pocket and a storage pocket.

The notebook pocket has a Velcro closure and fits up to a 15.4" notebook. There is 1/2 an inch thick padding all the way around the pocket and it's stuffed with a 100% polyester material.

The storage pocket is about the same size as the notebook compartment so it could fit textbooks, large accessories, folders and paper notebooks.

The strap is adjustable but not detachable and very thinly padded. The inside of the strap is made from the same polyurethane material as the inside flap to keep the strap from sliding around on your shoulder.

    Using the bag

The Golla Laptop Bag was surprisingly comfortable to carry around despite the thinly padded shoulder strap. And unlike some messenger bags, the Golla bag held a good amount of stuff with out getting warped by the contents. No one likes having a textbook corner getting pushed into their hip.

The notebook compartment was decently padded and the drawstring was a nice added feature for rainy days.

The stitching was tight, no loose corners or frayed ends. I might be a little worried that the strap is stitched to the bag only because I carried a messenger bag with a similar shoulder strap in college and the strap ripped off the bag while I walking to class. Of course, I had overloaded that bag with textbooks for four years, oops.

Honestly, the biggest problem with this bag might be that it is too big and flashy for some people, although I personally loved the different designs and colors.

    Conclusion

The Golla Laptop Bag is an interesting, functional messenger style notebook case. It seems well made and durable although it only comes with a one year warranty.

I would definitely recommend this bag to a student who wants a creative bag to carry books or a notebook in that won't break the bank.

    Pros

    • Stylish, several color choices
    • Stores a ton of extras
    • Reasonably priced

    Cons

    • Shoulder strap stitched into bag
    • No 17" option

    Pricing and Availability

The Golla Laptop Bag can be purchased via retailers worldwide for $69.99. Check out the full list for every country Golla Products are available in on Golla's website.

Yikes!! My eyes are almost being blinded by those bright colors!!

This looks like a decent bag, but it definitely not for us guys. Plus, I haul too many textbooks to have a bag like that anyway.
