Looks amazing! But I have to wonder how the cooling will be ... Sure it has great specs for games, but if it throttles, that ruins all the fun.
-
Notice the angle of the first picture, it makes it look a lot thinner than it actually is. I'd be concerned about cooling too, that's quite a bit of power under that tiny hood.
-
I thought it was funny that she played a video when she said to check out the graphics. I do like the specs though.
-
I didn't even know that Gigabyte made laptops...
Looks nice, but they should have used the 6770M, imo. -
Any laptop with full HD 1080p gets a thumbs up from me.Seriously this should be the industry standard.
-
Its a decent rig and the cooling system looks promising, though that glossy screen is particularly "glossy". -
Any laptop with FHD and either GT 550m or 555m is going to catch my eye...
-
-
I can play a video of crysis 2 on my old laptop with gma950 integrated graphics!
Don't need a Gt550/555m to do that haha -
-
So we are hoping in the end that this laptop doesn't burn through the desk?
or are we hoping that when she held it up that it was actually thicker than stated? -
It definitely looked pretty thick if you ask me. Maybe thinner on the sides, but the back and middle looked about 1.3 inches. Isn't the DV6T i7 thinner than that?
Obviously the Macbook Pro is thinner than that... -
The Gigabyte p2532 is
392(W) x 263(D) x 27.6-35.1(H) mm
~2.6kg (w/ODD and 6-cell battery)
The 2011 Macbook Pro 15 is
364(W) x 249 (D) x 24.1 (H) mm
2,54kg
So the Macbook Pro is smaller and thinner all around? How big is the HP Dv6?
There are 2 versions of the p2532
The p2532N is the high end with 1920x1080 screen (no 3d)
and p2532V with 1366X768 120hz supports NVIDIA 3D Vision

I hope they announce release dates and prices soon !!
I'm debating between this machine and the ASUS G53SW -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
-
Does anyone happen to know who actually makes this for Gigabyte? In the past I know they've used several OEM's, but I've heard that recently they've started making their own. That would surprise me.
-
i love the youtube video announcer:
"check out the graphics"
(its playing a wmp video)
also there is no real difference between a 540M/545M/550M other than core/memory speeds.
if they had used a 555M (50% more stream processors , albeit much lower core/memory speeds [which can be overclocked easily]) that would have been more hot ... literally.
looks like a solid laptop though, definitely something i would be interested in. -
I am worried about the cooling system for this laptop though - vents are underneath instead on the sides.
-
stand corrected- there appear to be two big vent holes on the lower back.
-
I think someone has already alluded to it but hasn't directly asked the question. How good a quality are Gigabyte machines? I think I they started out making motherboards right?
This machine and the Samsung 9 are two machines that hold my attention as I look to replace my dinosaur of a laptop.
I have already ruled out the HP ENVY 14 as they discontinued making decent screens for it, the ASUS G53 looks hideous to me (just a personal opinion) and every other affordable 14 - 15 inch machine is eaither way too bulky or comes with a sub par screen resolution.
If this Gigabyte is a solid machine, I will definitely be buying whenever it comes out.
Anyone know anything about Gigabyte laptops? -
After looking at everything out there from the Sager np5160 to sony and asus it seems like this laptop would be a better choice because it looks so far to have better cooling and gigabyte's rep with there motherboards are great. I'm hoping this laptop will be released sometime this month.
