    Gateway M255-E and Gateway NX260X Announced (pics)

    Gateway today announced the M255-E and NX260X 14.1-inch screen notebooks. The M255-E / NX260 will have the Intel Core Solo or Core Duo processor options. The M255-E and NX260 are essentially the same except that the M255-E is a business version while the NX260 is consumer. The M255-E will compete with such notebooks as the Dell Latitude D620 and Lenovo ThinkPad T60 14-inch screen laptops.

    The consumer version NX260 will come with Windows Media Center Edition 2005 and a 1-year warranty, while the M255-E will come with XP Pro and a built-in Smart Card reader + TPM 1.2 security module option. Warranty on the M255-E is 3-years standard as it is a business notebook.

    • Integrated Intel graphics
    • Weight: 5.2 pounds
    • 6-cell, 9-cell or extended life 12-cell battery available

    Prices for the M255-E will start at about $1,399 while the NX260X will start at $999. Availability via Gateway.com should begin at the end of April.

    Does this mean that we could see some ATi X1400 cards? That would be pretty neat.
    I guess space and heating may be issues, though.

    I sure hope the x1400 is an option...it's not on the M255-E, but maybe it'll be an option on the consumer version...
    But, they have put cards larger than an x1400 in 14'' notebooks before, so it certainly is possible...

    NNOOOO!! discrete graphics are not an option.... looks like this laptop is off my list....looks like I'm back to a T60...
