    G.Skill Intros Falcon SSDs

    G.Skill today introduced its Falcon series of Solid State Disks (SSDs), which are MLC-based and feature a SATA II interface. The Falcon SSDs also have a high-performance Indilink controller and 64MB cache. G.Skill claims the Falcon drives have a stutter-free operation.

    The Falcon series will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities. The 64GB drive has read/write speeds of 230/135MB/s while the 128GB and 256GB drives have read/write speeds of 230/190MB/s.
    Pricing and availability have not been announced.

    let's hope they don't follow supertalent's lead and charge more for them compared to OCZ.

    Supertalent's version of that drive is a lot cheaper than OCZ's.

    Not around these parts unfortunately :mad: It's about $80 more for the 64GB (229CAN at newegg vs 309 at another local store).

    Does anyone have more specs on these drives yet? In particular, how many watts consumed, idle vs load? My Titan uses about as much power as my 7200rpm Hitachi...

    That's because it has two Jmicron controllers, as opposed to one.

    power consumption should be virtually the same as the OCZ Vertex or Supertalent ME. OCZ claims max 2w in operation.
