Fujitsu Seimens has announced a new line of laptops aimed at the professional market.
The Esprimo series launches with three light and compact models. The most interesting feature is probably their built in 3G connectivity. Apart from 3G, all Esprimos have WLAN, Bluetooth 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. In case that isn’t enough you can turn to the ExpressCard 54 slot or one of three USB 2.0 ports, and you can take care of your photos thanks to the 4 card memory reader.
All three are based on Intel Celeron or Core2Duo processors and integrated GMA X3100 graphics, courtesy of Intel’s GMA965 chipset. You can get as much as 4GB of 667MHz memory on these babies. Storage shouldn’t be an issue with SATA hard drives up to 160GB and a dual layer DVD writer.

The smallest and lightest of the bunch is the 12.1″ U9200, weighing in at 1.8kg without the optical drive. The 14.1″ M9400 weighs 2.1kg, while the biggest 15.4″ machine, the D9500, weighs 2.5kg. The latter one is available in WXGA and WXGA+, while the smaller models have WXGA screens.
Nice machines, but I don’t think anyone would mind if Siemens Fujitsu did something about its design. Not that it’s bad, the machines look elegant, but the sharp-edged design is just a bit too sterile for my taste.
Esprimos should be available in August, starting at €1099 (inc. VAT in Germany).
