Wow besides being cheaper, why would one want a netbook if this has more CPU power, comes with an optical drive, bigger screen, and weighs just about the same as a 10 inch netbook ???

 

Well the price difference is pretty huge, about $1,400 more than a $400 netbook as it is around $1,800 for a P8020. A business notebook has expansion ports (ExpressCard, PCMCIA), security, better support, better screen and better quality build than a netbook so a business person that needs a serious work tool won't even consider a netbook

Speaking of price, Kevin what was the price of this configuration? Also, since this is a business notebook, can you mention if there's a docking solution we have as an option to expand the ports availability?

 

Closest configuration price is $2,149, but the notebook reviewed had 1GB x 2 where the closest configured would be 2GB x 1.

There is a docking assembly, but it is pretty limited.

lol this thread proves nobody cares about fujitsu haha they couldnt bring the Amilo line soon enough...

 

Sigh....I miss their old P series models. In my opinion, they've gone downhill when the P8010 came out, the quality seems to have decreased and they removed the modular bay, what a shame. It used to be a great competitor to the Vaio T series.

 

It seems to me that the screen isn't that great. I have not seen it in real life, but from the pictures it lacks compared to many of the other reviews I see for entertainment / multimedia / gaming laptops. The horizontal angles were the part that stood out to me as being no at the same level.

That seems so unfair! That's like saying: Besides costing $160,000 more Who would want a 1985 Toyota Corolla over a 2009 Mercedes S65?

The netbook can do almost everything that can, it'll just take a little more time. Personally I can wait the extra for the savings I'll get. With the savings I can get another powerful computer for the oomph and use the netbook for portablility.

Good review, I like it more than the one for the Toshiba X305, but I'd take the Toshiba.

 

You kind of answered your own question there. The price difference between this laptop and a netbook is substantial and few people can afford a $2k+ laptop as a secondary laptop whereas $400-500 is much easier to swallow.

 

This notebook has been out a while now. You can probably pick up a new one from Fujitsu on Ebay for about $900. Fujistu sell on ebay direct now.

The fans on Fujitsu notebooks can tend to be a bit on the loud side i think, maybe they have worked on this now though.
Customer support and turn around time is very good though and they also do world wide warranty as well.
Build is also very good i find.
With the 6 cell battery rated at 8700mAh what advantage does an extended battery really have? You find some 9 cell batteries that are not even rated this high.

If 5 hours 7 mins were obtained with active (and not allowing the computer to go to sleep for extended periods) wifi usage at 60% brightness in balanced mode then that is pretty good. You should be able to get 6 hours in power saver at 40% brightness. Also i don't know what types of sites the reviewer was surfing but flash ads can do horrible things to your battery life.

lol ok i thought that this was a P8010 there does not appear to be much difference between both of these laptops.

They should offer this laptop in more colours like white and rose pink in the UK and US. No WWAN though now that is a bad move.

Do you find it quite snappy like a full voltage laptop or are the low-voltage chips noticeable?

In my opinion, this laptop is kind of meh.

 

OMG. This is definitely the most unappealing laptop, I've seen anywhere. I'm in the market and can't decide, which brand I will ultimately purchase but this is not on my list. The review answers my questions but I don't want one of these. I somehow expected more.

How come the glossy screen is not in the Cons? When you're working away on a train or a plane the last thing you want to see in your screen are your surroundings.
