I didn't like that red backlit keyboard lights in envy 14. Rest is okay

DM3 looks cool except for the 3 USB's vs 4 on the current one.

Will they be launching an AMD version of the dm3 at $549.99 (because the dm3t is currently starting at $649.99)?

That said, after changing the keyboard backlight color on my M11x every week for a month I pretty much just leave it set to the red backlight color now.
It wouldn't surprise me if HP had an Intel and AMD configuration of every one of their notebooks since HP is one of AMD's biggest OEM partners. HP sells a ton of Intel stuff, of course, but HP appreciates the pricing flexibility that AMD CPUs and GPUs offer. -
Dadgumit HP, if you insist on never updating the 311 at least give me the low-end Ion in the 210! I would finally buy one if not for that.
Edit: Also, please, get rid of the VGA and add HDMI if and when you add Ion. -
I'm digging that HP Envy 14 Beats Edition. The Beats logo on the back of it is a bit tacky, but overall looks pretty sick.

The Pavilion dm3 looks nice though the keyboard layout is insulting; no dedicated home/end/pgup/pgdn keys? C'mon . . . my ProBook 5310m, which also has a 13.3" screen, has those as dedicated keys. And Lenovo is able to fit them on a 12" ThinkPad.
3D is a gimmick, IMO. I like the rest of the ENVY 17, though. -
Agreed on 3D.
And I think the Beats editions all look like poo. -

I still like the looks of the new HP Envy 14 Beats Edition more than the looks of the standard Envy 14. -

Oh why oh why couldn't they have launched an updated Envy 15. I totally want the features of the Envy 17 in the 15, like yesterday (hopefully they have dual core i7s, quads are a little too power consuming heat generating)

The dm3t looks great but the processor options are lacking at the moment.

Would be interesting to see the AMD Nile platform in a 10" form-factor. I still think the HP dm1z is the best netbook out there, although HP markets it as a notebook. It spanks the dual-core Atom in processor performance by more than a measurable margin, and for the price, is a far better buy than a souped-up 10" netbook.

Read the article on here, regarding the HP Envy 14 Beats Edition and it mentioned standard battery life of 6.5 hrs and an optional extended life battery promising to give you 13 hrs but when I go onto the HP website the battery offered only gets you 3.5 hrs max.
What is the deal here?!
The poor battery in the regular HP Envy 14 was the reason why I overlooked it in the first place and was considering getting the 17 inch instead.
Does anyone know if you can customize the HP Envy 17 with an i5 instead of an i7? I like the idea of a 17 inch 1080p screen but I really don't like the fact that the i7 chips run so hot. I have had bad experiences in the past with laptops that run hot and fry hard drives! -
I love my Envy14, but I wish there was a black version w/red backlighting available when I went to purchase - I would have bought it instead provided I could still equip it with all the features I wanted (Radiance, 840QM, etc..). However, I could do without the "Beats" branding and headphones. I refuse to pay extra to have an advertisement on my expensive piece of technology and that's how I see a prominent "B" on the lit. Its too bad that Dr Dre didn't choose understated elegance without big tacky symbols all over the place.
On a related note, I wonder if those of us with standard Envy models will be able to buy the red backlit keyboard as a "spare part" and mod it in ourselves? It would give a distinctive look, though it would be much better if the keyboard provided a choice of LED colors instead, like the Alienware models. For that matter, even just red and white would be better to give users an option of which they prefer. -

The Envy 14 Beats is NOT configurable with the Radiance... so what's the point? I think the main selling point of the Envy is that Radiance screen.. just too bad they raised the price $200.
Also, still no discrete gpu for the dm3. -
Just finished talking to an HP rep about this machine and it's battery life. All ads I have seen claim the machine gets up to 6 hrs with standard battery but HP are saying it only get 3.75 hrs max!!!!

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
Whoa ... the envy 14 with large battery getting 13 hours battery life with a radeon 5650? Hmm ... I'll believe it when I see it.
Although the Mini 210 looks nice both size wise and spec wise (with the dual atom n550 and the 1366x768 screen options). Wonder how much that would all cost? -
I think I'm gonna upgrade my Envy 15 to Envy 17 3D end of this year. I don't mind about the 3D, but I really like the 120Hz refresh rate.
I tried desktop 3D monitor alongside traditional 60Hz one and everything seems fast tho.. -
I am feeling the new envy

Love the look of the new dm3 as well.........am so glad that HP has finally moved away from the glossy plastics it used for so long. Am so-so on the speaker placement and wondering about the touchpad's performance.
Removing those dedicade home/end/pgup/pgdn keys was a strange move.....but not at all unexpected given the similarity of the keyboard layout to the macbook/macbook pro's (why not remove the volume/media keys and go back to making them dedicated buttons--thereby freeing up room to put home/end/pgup/pgdn back in?).
Am hoping the "CoolSense Technology" actually has some real world value to it and is not just another gimmick (like the 3D ). With ever advancing technology, notebook owners need all the help they can get in that area.
