[IMG]AMD just took the wraps off its new elite mobility processors (codenamed "Temash"), mainstream processors ("Kabini") and the elite performance processors ("Richland"). The team at NotebookReview.com just finished our in-depth look at the latest generation of AMD's processors. Keep reading to see if your next laptop should have AMD inside.

Thanks for this review! It seems Jaguar CPU cores are faster than Piledriver cores, at least clock to clock. That is impressive, considering how small they are.
Is the GPU could benefit from 2nd memory stick or only single channel memory supported?

The GPU memory bandwidth isn't improved by dual DIMMs, but with the new Radeon Memory Bus the GPU has faster access to memory compared to previous APUs.

I'm waiting to hear back from the Kabini product manager to get a more specific technical explanation of why the GPU cores in this APU don't benefit from dual channel memory and I'll post it here in the forums if and when he responds.

Wish you ran some Prime or Cinebench benchmarks to compare the CPU's with Intel's offerings. If the new top end APU comes close to an i5 it wokd be a huge improvement over last gen.
    Overall good review.

I think Kabini's and Temash's direct competition is Haswell-ULX and ULT, so would not be fair to compare with an i5. And if I am right these ultra low voltage Haswell APUs will also only include Single Channel memory controller, so that is the contest what would be good to see!

AMD really needs to release some 45w TDP mobile APUs. Intel has been for years. Not having high end mobile chips reduces their clockspeed and this makes the gap between AMD and Intel mobile chips larger since AMD's Richland CPU cores do less work per clock cycle than a Haswell. Less clockspeed + less work done per clock cycle.
It's opposite in the desktop area where AMD's chips are clocked higher than Intel's chips, though of course clock for clock they do less work still.

Add to that a fully unlocked CPU and GPU...at 45W TDP.
