This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I wonder if they will start doing this for the express upgrades from companies or not. Interesting thing to see.

    Dunno about Microsoft officially, but I know there are one or 2 UK webstores that allowed you to download the student XP upgrade for your pre-XP system (or XP Pro upgrade if you had XP Home) when I was looking into it last year

    Even if they're doing this to help with the attachment rate I suspect eventually sales of new desktop/laptop pre-loaded with Vista will line their pockets sufficiently
