hopefully they'll use a different chassis for their XPS 17" but it's definitely a step up from current inspiron line.

4.4 centimeters thick and 6.6 lbs. eek. Quite a difference in form from Apple's 15 inchers.

yap i hope dell to use a luxury case for XPS 17" high-end line (m17xx) as in XPS m1330 with some touches.

What exactly is the Vostro line? Is it a step higher or lower than the Inspiron in the Dell hierarchy?

Yeah... Dell kinda has the budget thing convered already... my guess is it's for people who'll pay $100 or so more for better style and maybe better build, but don't really want the business angle of the Latitude series nor the high-end-gaming angle of the XPS series.

The weights between the Inspiron and Vostro lines are both the same, which probably says something about their design - I doubt the Vostro will be much more 'up-class'. There's also no mention of dedicated video either.

not know yet, the news about them are mysterious at time.
I thought Vostro is better because dell uses AMD into its low-end machines and there is no mention of AMD CPU into Vostro maybe the nvidia will be an optional choice for it.
