I bought the CompleteCare with my XPS1210 and it only covers accidents. It didn't mention anything about theft. If it did, Dell would lose money selling it every year, it doesn't make much sense. However, go to Dell.com and read their offical policies to make sure. Even if they stated something incorrectly, they would have to comply with what they said.

When I recieved my Inspiron 6400, around 6 months ago. I noticed in the bios that it had the anti-theft software installed on it already.

Yes, but u had to actually pay money to a different company to receive this service. Now Dell has it included with the warranty.

just another way to seperate us from $150/yr. Dell is giving nothing away here their cutomers will pay for it somewhere. And I suspect dell might even "self insure" here as there are few laptops that are really stolen. I bet most are insurance fraud claims.

Most people already have renter's or home owners insurance to cover stolen (or in many cases accedientally damaged) personal property. You might need to add a rider to your current policy but why pay twice for the same coverage. And for people still in college or living at home ask your parents to make sure your laptop/computer is covered.

So having accidental damage protection and theft protection is keeping you from $150/yr or keeping you from loosing your $1000+ investment?
