In Europe Dell has already replaced its budget level notebook, the Inspiron 1100, with the new Inspiron 1150. The same notebook should become available in the U.S. this week and the 1100 will be phased out. Given the fact the 11XX series is a budget series, there's little that has changed and certainly nothing exciting added.

The cheapest andmost basic version of the Inspiron 1150 comes with a 14.1-inch screen, a 2.4GHz Intel Celeron processor, 256MB of RAM, a DVD-ROM drive and a 20GB hard drive. If you want to tweak out a budget notebook though,Dell will let you upgrade to a 15-inch screen, include a Pentium 4 2.66GHz chip, include a CD burner, and increase memory to as much as 1GB of RAM.

The Dell Inspiron 1100 was highly rated as a budget notebook. In an Inspiron 1100 Review we did of the notebook, the machinewas found to be a decent performer for the price and, although quite bulky and heavy, it has a decently stylish look with the light-grey and blue casing.
