What?? Dell does not have good customer service?? That seems to be what you are implying?

I looked at the Better Business Bereau site and alienware had 500 complaints and Dell had 1!! I really did not even want to write that here cause there is so much AW bashing they don't have time to talk bad about anyone else.

So Dell has bad customer service?? I Have been hanging out here for a month or so and everyone has been so busy bashing AW that I did not even know Dell had customer service issues. Or is it just that Dell has the indian Customer Service which makes them hard to understand??

I wonder how this will affect Dell marketing strategies. Prior to this XPS and Alienware were competitors....

It's just a way for Dell to offer high-end AMD machines without messing up their "exclusive" arrangement with Intel. I'm not sure how understanding Intel will be of all this. I suspect Dell is being too clever by half.

Well, while I've heard bad things about AW's customer service, I have been disappointed with Dell's, so it might not be much of an improvement.

Interesting! But, I would wait till the official word is released to truly believe this. Here is the link on CNET that nesbo was talking about:

    http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6464030.html?tag=cnetfd.sd

Since Dell purcahsed Alienware, and Alienware makes some AMD based systems, that might mean that dell will do the same. Now my question is, are they going to completly merge? Or is it going to be like Compaq and HP, where both Compaq and Hp have their own line of PC's on one website, regestered under hp?

I hate to agree with ya since i'm a mod for dell, but I figure if they buy AW, its going to be a huge design change. If it is like their previous systems, I'm not so sure that will be a good change. Maybe they'll make it all like the XPS series.

Wonder how Chaz is going to feel about this...

I wonder how this will affect Clevo and Uniwill in the future, seeing as how Alienware is pretty much just rebadged Clevos and Uniwills...

Yeah, I'm not to keen on it . . then again, I've become an AW diehard, since I've been using one for three weeks. :p

I'll have the AW buys Dell story in my news bits soon!

I'm sure AW will still exist and be seen somewhat as its own company, Dell and AW may integrate some of the features of their lines but AW's computer lines will most likely exist as is and there will be little change, maybe a little cost savings because they'll be produced by Dell but only minor stuff. Just my $.02

AW's website is still up and looks pretty normal. I know its still early. But I couldn't resist looking at it. I see both good and bad here. Maybe they're is a correlation between AW commercials (Dell hyping the brand up even more) and this buy.

There's a little "quote" button in the bottom right of a person's post.

    I'm reviewing . . . you'll see soon. :) Have to build suspense!

I don't like suspense, am very impatient by nature! And I think the internet and information on demand has nurtured my impatients exponentially.

Tell us at least is a BIG or little AW??

That Cnet article is most interesting. The initial article sounded like standard corporate denial, but the fact that a "high end vendor" made a statement which as yet hasn't been corraborated is suspicious. Given the tone of the Dell spokesman in this recent denial I couldn't say either way whether I believe this news. Frankly it wouldn't suprise me if it were true though. And if true I don't think I would expect much change in Alienware at all. I would wager that Dell just sits back and lets the money flow in.

I wouldn't quote a couple of tech blogs and the infamously incompetent c|net as 'fact' or confirmation. At the end of the day, all these tech sites recycle stories from each other so I'd wait till I hear it from both the horses mouths before reacting to it! Not saying it didn't happen, just think there is too little info from credible sources to start buzzing about it (officially).
