This is just a rumor....while inquiring with a Dell representative about the XPS 1210 he mentioned to me Dell will be coming out with a 14" screen version of the XPS. No release date or other specifications were mentioned. Just thought people would like to speculate.

My guess would be something more along the lines of a Go7600 seeing as the M1210 has a Go7400.

The m140 was a real let down for the XPS line. But if dell put a 7400 in a 12" they should have no problem putting like an X1600 or 7600 in a 14". And yes, I'm sure it will be called the XPS M1410. lol

What Jason said is what I would expect from them. They should a powerful midrange vidcard available, that's the only thing they're lacking.

If SG is right about it having the Merom... mightn't it then be called the XPS1420, to distinguish it from the XPS1x10's, which have Yonahs? I could be dead wrong on that, though.

I would have to agree. The Core Duo -> Core 2 Duo isn't quite as big a jump as the Pentium M -> Core Duo. I think (I hope) Dell will offer Core 2 Duo upgrades on all of their current lines, and probably hold off on the XPS M1x20 and Inspiron x500 line until Vista and 64-bit chips (possibly even DX10 for the XPS) become standards sometime early next year.

Besides the fact that I just got a M1210, the idea sounds great... But getting past that first point is sooooo hard...

Perhaps Dell will come out with a 15" laptop, with something around the lines of the X1800/7800... Incredibly unlikely, but who knows, maybe dell will pull off the impossible.

    Do you mean this thread?

The article linked there says Asus will be building a 14.1-inch wide-screen mainstream notebook, that sounds more like the replacement for the e1405/640m, unless the XPS line is considered mainstream?

If the article is accurate, the Asus built 14" won't show up till end of Q1 or start of Q2 2007 when Santa Rosa is launched.
